Even with a door between the entrance and reception the smell of smoke enters the building which can be unpleasant.Lille is a small french town which I discovered to be a great stopover on your way from Holland to Paris and beyond in France. With the highest elevation upper floors in the city, the whole building stands above the rest in terms of view and quality. The hotel used to be a hospital and it dates back several centuries. Clean, charming , very unique property with modern amenities amidst an old world building.

Quiet and peaceful location that is very close to Lille’s central plaza. Offering 1- and 2-bedroom suites, L’Hermitage is a luxurious building. Our room was lovely on the first floor in the new block, unfortunately our view was just of parked cars and a big block across the road (unexpected for a 5*hotel ) To add to our disappointment we endured lots of road noise from approximately 5am in morning so sleep deprivation occurred. Upon arrival we were given a history of the hotel. Guests enjoy the quiet. Nice neighborhood - Building with a history. To book an appointment when the Spa is closed, leave a message on the Spa answering service, send an email or go to the Spa by Hermitage Gantois website. Spent just a night and would love to come back! The dinner itself was fantastic! nothing special.
Excellent breakfast in the morning and a well provisioned bar in the evening.. Quiet rooms with cold AC, mini bar, free wifi, hot showers. !
